Slaving for non-slavers......

the underground:
So your out on the wastes and you get attacked by let's say 3 raiders.
By luck, skill, expireince, or outside intervention you kill 2 and knock out the third. Great fo you, now you get to kill her in cold blood.

Oh, WAIT!!!! If you had been a slaver, you could have taken her for slave, sold her, and kept the monery.... Except you didn't become a slaver.

So my proposal is.... You CAN use ropes to bind CRIMINALS (otehr than trappers, maybe) and sell them to NCR or any other CITY (not metger or whatever) as "bounties" on them. Same bounties as you get for slaves, applies only to criminals (so nothing for kids), no karma hit but no gain either.

Just somethign to consider..... I mean, in the real world of fallout, that's exactly what would happen. If you were lucky enough to survive an ancounter with raiders you could take them to the local sheriff and collect a bounty on them, but it wouldn't be a great trade to get into- too high risk.

Eternauta:
The NCR has a lot of money being spent on its Armed Forces and patrols which are already trying to keep the nearby area secured. They can't give money for every little raider someone brings to jail.

Not every raider is an identified criminal, it's a wild wasteland where anybody can live in a cave with their friends and eat from what they get by raiding caravans and travellers.

the underground:
Fair point I suppose....
Maybe half the amount as a bounty.......

JovankaB:
Catching wanted NPC criminals is interesting idea for a repeatable job imho, but I don't think it should be every "raider" mob. Instead of trying to track and catch a specific NPC you would have grinding encounters.

so i thought about this a few minutes, then realized:
"KNOWN" criminals, as in ones with specific wanted posters, are typically higher-level NPC that run-of-the-mill raiders/whatever. Your chances of NOT killing them is pretty poor overall.

in the end it makes only a little diffrnece to me, it all comes down to an encouter with raiders I had where one of the raiders was passed out, I 'could' have enslaved her (if I were a slaver), but since I didn't have rope (or that nasty little tattoo) I couldn't, so I had to kill a basically defensless woman. Seemed to me to be a shame to spend bullets on her like that, shooting her right between the eyes, when I could have hauled her into Hub and handed her over to the sheriff., let her pay for her crimes against hunaity and all that c***.
