This is nothing new (since session start?), the difference is that now even dying inside those bases will not remove there locations, but yeah, its an abusable feature that should be looked into. Your scenario is totally possible and im counting on some of us to prove it in the near future.

Also... You will notice this trapper camp is slightly different than regular ones ;)
