Motion Detectors improve Outdoorsman
(1/1)
Badger:
I've noticed how a recurring suggestion to new players is 'increase your outdoorsman'. It seems a bit off that players need to invest in that regardless of their intended build.
So, I think having a motion detector in your inventory should increase your outdoorsman by 20 points or so, but not past a certain threshold. It'll increase your outdoorsman, but not past 60%, for example.
This'll give crafter characters a leg up without forcing them to invest skill points in an area that they never intended to. So, instead of learning how to skin geckos, they use technological wizardry to solve their problems.
Obviously, the drawback is that it's temporary.

Consumes Small Energy Cells? ;p

I thought about that, but then I figured that was too much of a drawback. Having to buy it, having the risk of losing it, AND having to buy small energy cells is a bit too much.
If it was a pip-boy attachment that consumed small energy cells, however, I'd totally support that.
Along with the radio being a pip-boy attachment that consumed small energy cells.

60% is still not enough to avoid more than less encounters. I think making it up to 100% will be fine.
+1 to this idea.

Yes 60 is pretty bad.
