Iron Ore depletion
« on: January 13, 2013, 04:02:09 pm »

Since either last update or a previous one, Iron Ore seems to deplete very fast and take a while to grow back. Or maybe I've just had really, really bad luck every time I've gone to a mine and it's in my head and I apologize. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it intended? I really don't see the point of it if it is intended. That is all.

Spawn rates should be increased.

i think it must be best
than
Normal minerals Spawn with a 40
Normal Ore Spawn with a 40
HQ Minerals spawn with 20
HQ Ore Spawn with 20
Uranium Ore spawn near  40-50
<and rafining will be for 10 caps per one will be nice>

They could increase resource regeneration as suggested here by davrot - good idea. They could add more rock clusters to each mine. They could do both. They could add back the mineable rocks in random encounters too.

Sorry i haven't mined much lately to answer original question. I will go see.

I stated in another post but I'll drop it here too, I think there is someone emptying the place at least junktown only maybe once every 2 days I can get more than 2 swings on every rock (mineral and ore) in the place, and I try and many different times.  It could be a combination of that and bad luck but this game has made me quite pessimistic.

Only low quality iron ore, not minerals or HQ ore?

Ore rates should be specific to the player and not server wide, a whole mines worth is only enough to craft a few things

Yes, and HQ minerals were fine, too. But... this thread may be pointless, I just went to BH mine again and was able to get some full loads of regular Iron Ore... so I think that for the past several days I was just getting really, really unlucky when I decided to go mine, even though I made sure I tried many times (and various mines) before I made a thread. Meh, so I guess nevermind.

But by the off-chance that there is a problem, a dev that did change anything with ore generation without mentioning it in a changelog (don't mean to sound accusatory), might want to re-check the script or something, just in case there is some mistake.

Still none in Junktown, so it may be a glitch or a few people still alive in the wastes hording it all.

I dont know in which mine are you but I mine all the time in gecko and there is plenty iron ore there I always pick up around 150 iron ores + other ores and minerals, I often go in early or late hours for example if i wake up in 6:00 i take toor arond mine and all ores are intact and they give me 20 ores each, and respown is good as it is right now
people who play all day would just sit in mine and mine with one char and duallogibg crafting on other chars very fast it would unbalace game,

respawn quantity and respawn time should not change

Ore availability depends on the activity of other miners. If you can't mine, chances are the Minerussian already took everything.

It's weird.
Every time I try the NCR mine there is barely any ore.
This is ridiculous there is no way that someone can pick up ore that fast.
Gecko and Broken Hills mine are always full though.

newbies hang around ncr all the time and and also junktown both protected mines... I think its normal they are all the times deplited, I haven mined this mined this session in ncr mine, but I mined once in junktown mine becouse I needed expanded lock picks and I found all ores(14 iron ore) I needed from one rock source... and its was about 6pm
