Sneak viability with melee
« on: December 16, 2012, 08:11:53 pm »

Hi guys just wanted to start a new fun build but before I do I just wondered exactly how much I would have to invest into sneak for it to be worth while.

Is 170% with Ghost enough? I don't mind not having the three hexes away that %300 brings, I'd just like to be able to close the distance a bit

Side note, can I quickly start sneaking in an encounter as it starts?

OK well first off, 170 sneak and ghost is only 200 sneak, and only If your near a solid object. That is most definitely not even close to enough. The 300% is needed if you don't want to get blown away by anything that has more than 5 perception. But it isn't really difficult to get. You actually only need 270 sneak, and ghost will top it for you. If you are only using this character to troll or sneak around npc's, I suppose maybe 220 and ghost would suffice. But if your using this build for a scout for PvP or TC, the 300% is a must. And also, yes you can quickly tap the 1 key on your keyboard to enter sneak before combat opens, that is unless your with other players. If you are only with one other player, and they have you tagged then you can still sneak while in their view.

I hope that sums up your question for you :)

Gimper apparently hasn't made a sneak in a long time, ghost only adds to sneak when within 5 hexes of an object. Honestly you need high sneak to make the tradeoff worthwhile since its so skill and perk heavy.

no, 300% is must have. with 170 players will see you from 50 hexes.

yes, if there's no other player. you can also sneak next to npcs

ghost improves 30% in sneak, so if you got TAGGED sneak OVER 200% it saves you 90 Skill points, means it saves you 2 special points invested into IN. I believe its one of best perks for max sneaker who is intended to use also weapon/use steal/use traps.
