how does this affect pvp and stuff? wont people have different combat modes? i dont understand

You can have turn based mode only in random encounters and in quest locations.
The setting of the player who creates the map (first player in encounter or player who took quest) decides.

In all other locations (towns, tents, bases) it's always real time.
