Useless I think not, Fallout Online: Australia had fucking heaps of professions like Farming, cooking, drink crafting, construction and other things. and it was really fun. This guy has the right idea.
2238 Devs tend to ignore the good ideas though. ( But then again I dont blame them, >9000 Suggestions a day is imposs to keep up with )
