Introducing Pots' Parties: Expeditions Into the Wasteland

Once or twice a week I will be launching an expedition from Shady Sands into the wasteland.  I have made a character especially for this purpose. His name is Pots.

- The goals of each expedition will be clear and quantifiable.

- All combat will be real time, not turn based.

- Expeditions will be announced ahead of time in this thread.  Afterwards I will be sure to post the results.

- Those who desire to be part of an expedition will assemble in the Shady Sands bazaar.  Pots will shout a 2 minute warning before departure.  From there the party will go to Pots' safe house for equipment and review of expedition goals and guidelines.  This will be kept as brief as possible.

- Metal armor, metal masks, and assault rifles will be supplied.  There will also be some laser rifles and miniguns available.  Each weapon will have 3 magazines worth of ammunition next to it.  You may bring your own equipment if you like, but it is in no way required.  Drugs will not be supplied, so if you need them to operate you had better be sure get high before you get there.

- All things encountered will be engaged and exterminated.  This means ants, patrols, players, mutants... everything.

- Killing or intentionally attacking others in the expedition will result in that character being disallowed on future expeditions.  An exception to this rule is if Pots yells out a character's name and TK (Team Killer).  (Example: If Spidercat is seen shooting another expedition member pots will yell "TK Spidercat TK!")   Clearly, you can waste that dude.  I am hoping this never comes up.

-  Pots will take no loot.  If extra carry space is required, then he will carry equipment on request, but not with the intention of keeping it.  Any equipment left at the safe house will be available for future expeditions.

- If Pots is killed the expedition is over.  This is not me being bitter, I just can't see wrangling 8 other strangers after a respawn.

- Pots is made for survivability, and not for damage output.  He will stay towards the rear during combat, use only single shot weapons, and try his best to stay alive for the sake of the expedition.

- After the expedition's goals have been met the survivors will be escorted back to the safe house next to Shady Sands to divvy up loot as desired by the players.  General conversation, shit talking, and any other bullshittery the survivors can think of.  They will be welcome to hang out as long as they want.

- When leaving a map after an encounter Pots will always exit to the north (up).  If there is not a north exit to the map he will exit east (right).  He will shout out a countdown starting at 5.  At zero he will enter the wasteland, and will not return for those who were too slow or were unwilling to follow.

Disclaimer:  I know this is troll heaven.  This will not keep me from starting expeditions in the future, but may bring any of them to an abrupt and early end.  Please don't show up unless you are there to have a good time and work as a team.  Also, I am under no illusion that all will make it back.  Some expeditions will almost assuredly be wiped out to the man.  Again, this will not stop me from starting expeditions in the future.  Risk is essential to adventure, and I plan on taking these expeditions directly in to the heart of danger.

Do you have what it takes to make your mark on the wasteland?

Come find out... if you dare!

;D

Expedition 1:  Fuck the brotherhood.

Those ass hats at the brotherhood bunker in the southern desert need to get knocked down a peg or two.  We will be raiding their patrols to let them know that a free wasteland is a healthy wasteland.

Goal for this expedition:  Kill a number of brotherhood combatants equal to three times the number of expedition members upon arrival to the southern tip of the desert.  At least 1 third of the prey item must be in power armor.

Departure time:  The expedition will leave from the Shady Sands bazaar Saturday, September 15 at 9pm GMT +2 (forum time).  This should be noon PST.

I agree with Eter. I'm willing to join a few of these expeditions, just to see the outcome. If I like it, I may join all of them (if I'm available).

Don't forget to bring some 5mm AP!

Too bad I will probably be working tomorrow [it's 9 PM here CST].

This kinda stuff [although it's realtime :s] I thoroughly enjoy, I'm a hunter at heart!

So what happens when you get 9 other participants for your party? I assume then it's a first come first serve?

I don't want to force you into anything, Spidercat. But if you agree, these expeditions could be The Last Light activities, and if there are more people interested in them than the number you can lead, someone from TLL could lead the rest, and use radio channel to meet your group in encounters via distress :)

As said, it's your thing so you decide. I personally wouldn't feel offended if you said no. I'd still like to join one of your expeditions someday, as just another follower.

No stupid, why do you think I find them in VS encounters?

I can try though, but mostly patrols I find are 2 AR's and 1 avenger

Pots' Party 1: Results...

Only 3 other wastelanders were brave enough to attempt to take the fight to the man.  They refused gear and elected to endure the fight with only the clothes on their backs and the weapons they brought with them.  Despite antagonists attempting to bring the expedition to a halt before it started with dynamite and automatic fire in the bazaar, these intrepid heroes marched to what would certainly be their doom.  The goal was to kill 12 brotherhood soldiers.  Our first encounter with the BOS was a 4 man patrol, all in power armor.  We fought valiantly, and took down one of the beasts, but with 4 underpowered adventurers... our fate was sealed.  Hopefully next time we will have more of a turn out and the participants will take the equipment offered.

Thanks to Fear, Revenant, and Malice Song for their participation.  In the face of overwhelming odds, you did not run.  Your names will echo throughout the wasteland.

Expedition 2: The Unity

As most worldly wastelanders know, for the last few years the Unity has been asserting their own brand of justice in and around Broken Hills.  Let them prowl the streets, but the wasteland belongs to the wastes.  We plan to help check this expansionism by raiding some of their patrols.

Goal for the expedition:  Eliminate three times as many Unity soldiers as there are members in the expedition upon arriving at the area around Broken Hills.

Departure time:  The expedition will leave from the Shady Sands bazaar Saturday, September 20 at 9pm GMT +2 (forum time).
