Improve Slave/Merc Mechanics
« on: August 24, 2012, 05:05:03 pm »

Well first off, I want to whine a little about the terrible lag spikes. But anyways, about Slavers and Mercs. I've noticed that companions can have their armor changed, but slaves and mercenaries can not. This is the stupidest thing ever. Companions, a random dude or chick, can be commanded to put different cloths on, but a slave (in whom you own) can not be told to. Imho, this is quite stupid. I know that if all your slaves had camk2, that might be a bit over powered, so maybe make a limit. like maybe MaMk2 for the limit. Also, why are there no Big gun slaves? Make them hard to get so ever one is not spamming minigunners everywhere, but at least make it possible to get them. Maybe they can each take 3 charisma and/or some party points. Let me know what you all think. I can take Critique, but please, no trollage. This topic was inspired by http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,25491.0.html

Problem is that critters who can be enslaved use different type of body then player chars few exception are there like male trapper, male bandit and combat slaves, but the other ones have looks that would make armor wearing strange. No chance something like this would happen.
On the note of better weapons some of the slaves do able to equip those weapons combat slaves have all animation types for example its a different thing they ain't so skilled but then again they are not trained mercenaries.

Doesn't matter the armour skin replaces it. Yes combat slaves can use bg, but combat slaves are totally useless and shitty. Why have slavery if none of the slaves are worth getting? Mercs are pretty shit too, only ones with enough hp to survive their own retarded ai are stuck walking.

It does and probably thats the problem. With those change their body proportions change too.
On a note on their usefulness I have used quite a few slaves for pvp purposes and got to say that 7 slaves armed with proper weapons and used in good situations can be a force to reckon with. Guarding a small room with ghouls armed with their starting gear and the slaver with a grease gun quite a chance that any char who has 100-240hp will not survive alone. Don't think its possible now I haven't had any pvp lately.

I prefer my 6 dogs, best companions ever, they never flee always fight to the death and well are just better company than humans.
