Craft advanced work bench at your tent

You get bored when you have everything and start to demand more.

I like this original suggestion but let's keep some challenge to it. You cannot use an adv.workbench [anywhere] unless your char is level 24 and you have at least three tier 2 professions. You cannot build an adv.bench except at certain bases (not a tent) like Outpost or Gas Station, and only with a team of chars whose cumulative Repair and Science equal or exceed 500. Also yes it's expensive to build one - need to pay some NPCs for specialized service (like a foreman at a construction site), and need HQ alloys and good metal parts etc PLUS some special items like...
* A metal pole (found only in a certain quest, not disclosed here)
* (more weird items not so easily obtained in large quantities)
In other words make it a challenge to get this. Add some quests to this list. Add an adv.workbench blueprint! Make it tough but possible because...
Gunrunners is NOT "a safe place to craft". It's just not. If you go there a lot with no problems, then fine, but don't call it safe - i had my worst disaster there. And i craft at Mariposa many times with no losses so please stop saying GR is safe.
Crafters are not PvP chars, like someone else here said, so their challenge should not be threats from PKs. Think about it - any team of crafters would build their own places to "craft in peace" so that's what our crafters should have.
THE ROADBLOCK: at least 1 developer has clearly stated they don't want players crafting large quantities of tier 2 items. So that's it. If you think "crafting sucks now", then you're up against the people who actually design this game because they want it this way.
I was really hoping they'd tell us why, so then at least we'd know. With that understanding, we might not spend so much time thinking of crafting ideas [that don't fit the plan].

Crafters live in the same world as PKs.
Too bad.

We already have our own places to "craft in peace" (ranger tents, bases, "safe towns").
The technology to manufacture tier 2 is perhaps non-reproducible.
Wasteland Harsh.
Roachor:
"Wasteland Harsh" Slogan of small minded players defending bad design. No one crafts mk2 shit unless they are in a main faction possibly, its too much of a pain in the ass. The time required doesn't justify the rewards.
Marko:
Wasteland is not harsh; it's the players.
Crafters are not living in a PK world here. PKs live in a crafter's world in this game. It's a crafter's world, and PKs only thrive here because crafters craft. Crafters built it. The developers are crafters too. Thank them for the game. Own any Pancors? Thank a crafter. Have access to an Outpost base? Someone crafted it. So this entire community is actually in 100% perfect agreement on this whole topic whether they're smart enough to realize it or not: more crafting options is better [for everyone].
The addition of blueprints was a great idea because it helps brighten the contrast between true crafters and non-crafters (or casual crafters). But running crafters through a gauntlet of death to get tier 2 items...well...it does not increase playability for anyone. It doesn't balance anything. It doesn't enhance the economy or increase your precious "immersion". The crafting gauntlet doesn't bring more players or enable more items, more caps, more features or better TC. None of those. As it is now, the crafting gauntlet only does one thing: serves the devs in their goal of "no more carpets of tier 2 items".
