I downloaded that version, and copyed over the master.dat, and critter.dat. I used the updater, and set the IP to 176.9.105.171.I have tried all of the things in the read me. FO2238config says "the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application". FOconfig works, thats how I put in the IP. But clicking play says "this application has failed to start because d3dx9_42.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.". And the launcher says the same thing as FO2238config. What is wrong with it?

Are you using windows 7?

This happens on my laptop which is DX11 on windows 7.
You should be able start FonlineGL.exe, this works on my laptop.

Im not sure but that d3dx9_42.dll is a directx 9 file. This file is present on my desktop with winxp DX 9.

I wouldnt know if copying that file would work.

Im on windows XP. Not sure about which DX I have though. Probably not that high, its a somwhat old computer. FOnlineGL loads a gray box that dissapears as soon as I move the mouse.

Go into your START button and click run.

Type dxdiag then enter. You should be able to tell what DX you have through that.

As for that file im not sure how you go about obtaining it.

That explains why it didn't make sense. I tried googleing d3dx9_42.dll, and downloaded it. But that didnt work. So then I tried downloading DirectX10, but couldnt find any download links at all.

Windows Xp supports only DirectX 9c.

Usually you can get DX 9c from a recent game.
Did it ask for any more files after you put in the dll file?

Try re-installing DX 9c, if that dont work, i dont know whats going on.

It didnt ask for anything more. And reinstalling directx9c didnt work.

Take the DLL file you downloaded and put it in same folder as the fonline.exe file.
