Offers can be made not only by posting in an auction thread but also via PM/e-mail in which case they are not visible to the public.
You could've offered 25k before the other guy did, and I would've been more than happy to sell the stuff to you instead of him.

Next time make your auction properly please. If you have to end auction one day earlier you should tell us why.
