I am pretty sure it is. I got most of my items simply from killing other guys. It is faster, but requires you to have more firepower / luck or more people.

But killing other players as a means of gathering items like blueprints... it's not a reliable or even effective method of obtaining them.

I have not; I was just thinking there should be some kind of in-game market that would be similar to--or even priced a little higher than--what I've seen in player-to-player sales.
