Cash maybe?
« on: July 14, 2012, 06:55:13 pm »

Alright, there should be some cash in FOnline: 2238 that plays as a second currency for the player himself. Not that I am getting this idea off Fallout: New Vegas but there is a dialogue that says that buying a beer is atleast "100 bucks" while your character replies "10 caps?" and he doesn't want it. Since bucks survived during the post-apocalyptic activity, there should be atleast some currency around the environment to atleast get your hands on. Something close to pre-war money from Fallout 3 and bucks from Fallout: New Vegas but abit more different like having a different design, how much it is in caps, amounts in rare encounters, how much you can deal with it in NPC conversations and so forth. I know this will take some time to be scripted into the game but it's just a suggestion that popped in my mind during in-game time.

 Any opinions at all?

Just read more about first Fallout games...
Fallout 3 is completely different story. These games were made by different  people (Fallout 2 by Black Isle Studios and Fallout 3 by Bethesda Softworks). You will never see bucks in FOnline 2238.

In fallout 2 you could find something similar to paper money in Redding.

Fallout 1 had caps
Fallout 2 had money, morningstar mine script, kokoweef mine script, and you can find bottlecaps.

You would have been better to look here first http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Currency

We actually thought about adding different currencies in various towns. The idea still stands, but doesn't have any priority right now. It's just a minor detail, but requires quite a lot work to feel good, so... Maybe some day.

Any differences will happen, we'll need another ways to get this cash from other towns , though new alts will be need, and so on...
I think we do not need different currencies, but advantages and disadvantages in towns, ex:
Modoc - Cheap materials (pelts and hides, fruits, fibers, wood), Expensive : guns , armors and ammo (so they'll buy it for a nice price), and instead of that there would be another city which is in lack of materials, but got guns (like LA or Necro etc.)
But that is another story ;_;.

i think that some player enjoying trading more than pvp and pve

for example prev session it was possible to earn stuff/caps by trading stuff with different merchants

Maybe set different currencies in different regions like:everything north of NCR(including NCR) uses gold coins(except Redding) and everything south of it uses caps.
By this i mean gold coins or caps or scripts spawn in merchants inventories but they all have the same value everywhere (cap=1$ coin=2$ script=5)
