What I actually find funny is that you like TLA so much that you need to come here and tell us that it is great and why. But you don't play there. Or maybe you play there, but it's not enough for you, and you'd like to shout on this forum that TLA roxx.
Can't wait for the server codes to be released, so that people that play on 2238 thinking it's a shitty server go to make their own.

Did anyone say that TLA rox (I mean, in this thread) ? Nope.
I think that everyone jest wants 2238 to be a better server (if you think it's perfect now, then um..well.. we don't have much to talk about, I think).

It seems that every time anyone dares to say something is better on TLA, GMs (yes, especially you, Izual) and devs feel kinda offended and respond with "go play on TLA" or "go make your own server" or some other crap. Ahh, those terrible beta-testers..

Well, at least I tried not to be offended and I stated that such difference was the design goal at the very beginning;)
And yes, every thread with "vs" in title is bound to fail sooner or later (be it red vs blue, christmas vs easter).

But I'm not closing it, you just try to avoid those 'bad' arguments, and we will be fine.

First of all, you really showed the best and the worst possible screenshots. There were nice events on 2238 too. Also many things depend on players. But personally I agree that there was to many unprepared and effortless events in the last time - though a lot of players like it anyway. And they ask about events everyday, so we can only do something quick or tell them "no event". But for you I have a good news: GMs discussed it with some admins and after wipe we will try to do much less events but (hopefully) with higher quality.

bad idea, some events even being carefully planned turned to be same quality as quick events, so we will just have less events and that is bad. Biggest edge of the event is that it gives something to do for 21 level characters instead of doing nothing, so because of that the event type doesnt really matter :>

Actually i agree with vedaras. It would be better if there be more quantity, less quality, because sometimes the unplanned ones turn out to be really much fun (i.e. the one in New Reno Stables).

And this time you will be banned for not obeying event rules. So you'll have something to do anyway. Leveling from the start again :>

To be banned in an event you have to be really stupid, i.e. insult the staff, heavy spam or dismantle stuff...

I agree with the purpose of the topic, but screenshots are really bad choosen.

I think the main difference between 2238 and TLA is on stuff and way to get it, and this is already said too : TLA is about Fun, 2238 is about item saving and spending humongous time on crafting. I don't want start a debate on crafting system, but mining is really boring...

In TLA, it is still possible to play as a lone wanderer without spending skill points in science or repair, just stalk mobs and run away ! It doesn't work for high end equipement, but at least you don't spend hours and hours to get a weapon for self-defense.

I'm not here to argue for TLA, i play 2238 and will still play and donate for it, but we have a problem : world is twice bigger in 2238, and we have twice less players than in it (and TLA is almost russian only, whereas 2238 is a kind of "worldwide"). Cities are empty, players are so idler that they kill bluesuits and any npcs in town, avoiding people to make quests(it is really boring to don't be able to finish quests because of it and then making +requesthelp for this(furthermore when it is too late in the night and when there is no GM connected).

About events, and to talk about screenshots, we have similar events on 2238, maybe you just missed it ! In a debates "between" (and not "versus") the both servers, we have to find a just balance. In my opinion 2238 just need more population to be "fun" as TLA, and after wipe will be a good period for it.

(edit : this is a good example of what are thinking people starting here : http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=2434.0 ; maybe yes, this game is not for lone wanderers, but making new friends and creating a faction with trustable people is very hard for beginners, maybe too hard, i know a lot of people who stopped to play because they were in a faction, when from one day to another, anything disapearred in the base because of one stupid robber who abused their trust. Most of us lived this situation, but it is really a mess for many players : and here the problem doesn't come from people and trust issues, but more about the time spended on creating stuffs ;;; from the opinion of many players, 2238 is now about 3hours crafting, 1hour playing "hidden-hidden" over cities making previews, then 10 minutes of real gaming.)

Question to me is what is "real gaming" to you. Running around, shooting stuff?

well, waiting around for timeouts certainly isnt for me, I think it was much more enjoyable when you could farm the same caravan over and over again for easy stuff, then you could level quickly because experiance on critters didnt decay and mobs didn't get some magical movement speed to make it "balanced".. It wasn't so tedious. The whole crafting scene would also be more enjoyable if there were no cooldowns and gathering could be done by slaves automatically or removed gathering timeout / really low cooldown..

Then people say wasteland would overflow with items etc but thats alot better than how it is now I think.. we still get the stuff we want but its a pain getting there, and its boring.. feels like a job instead of a game.

Red and Christmas.

Also, about equipment being non trivial here, thats how we want it. Crafting will become quicker and hopefully less "passive" - but if it ever becomes trivial to lose a minigun or CA then something is wrong.
