is there any other way of getting the master dat and critter dat into the game without useing fo2238config.exe file, it just wont open for me nothing happens i click it and it loads for abit and the window doesnt open , and i cant play without this because u need to pick the option for the critter and master so if anyone know what to do pease tell me thank you

Did you try to set the paths in FO2238config.exe? And for the manual method, you must open it with Notepad.

opening executable file with notepad? it is not good idea.

g4ce, i  said you many times:
1. open notepad
2. paste there those 2 lines:
                     data\master.dat
                     data\critter.dat
3. save file as DataFiles2238.cfg (file -> save as -> file type : all files and paste file name with extension)
4. copy created file to fonline main directory, and put critter and master to fonline/data folder

Oh I thought he meant the .cfg file wasn't opening.

uh, here's the stuff I had written before you posted, it's kinda repeat of what racoon just said so sorry:
Find an existing .cfg file.
Open it with Notepad.
Copy/Rename it to datafiles2238.cfg

Delete all the stuff in it, and then directly put the paths to your master/critter files
ex:

C:\FOnline\critter.dat
