@Eter:
These houses have more storage and more space and outdoorsman camps.

The foreman does not have to dissapear. Only give him a list of zones, where it is possible to build the tent. If you try to build it somewhere else, he will say "We are too far from %CityName% you cant build a house here. Go closer to the city."
--- Quote from: Eternauta on June 11, 2012, 03:48:10 pm ---For the moment I'd just suggest being able to have more than one tent per character *and* invite other people to your tent, this would reduce the stupid alting.

Lets make it "once you visit the place, you see it forever, unless you die there" that will solve many problems.
--- Quote from: Eternauta on June 11, 2012, 03:48:10 pm ---I like the idea of buying a house but I'd personally go for something more "Fallouty/wastelandish"... for example, if you give caps to some NPC, he will tell you about a small abandoned cave (for the less urban cities like Klamath, the Den, Modoc, Junkown) or house (but not a real house, rather some simple thing made out of junk, etc). Maybe about an abandoned semi-ruined flat in towns like New Reno, Hub and New Adytum.
Also, these houses have to be attractive, with more containers, a workbench (not an advanced one though), campfire, and some other thing, maybe something to gather resources from - Why? because if these houses are the "same" as ranger camps, people will still be alting to make shared tents, less effort and only costs 10 hides.

Nice idea, but that will require a lot of work, espetialy house maps.
--- Quote from: Eternauta on June 11, 2012, 03:48:10 pm ---Maybe you have to kill some critters that ar living in the area, to make it your own. Maybe the NPC asks you to get rid of raiders or homeless people who have occupied the place, and you can choose between caps or owning the place yourself (I think this is what Wichura's idea was about).

This could be tied to those encounter maps with white houses. Put some Farmer NPC inside (dead/alive) and some Mantises or Raiders outside. And some way to change this map into tent/house map after finishing some jobs. (digg out the well, repair it, plant some plants, water them, you name it)

bad idea. sneakers tagging your character that can run really fast without being seen if you character has low PE. or if your character doesn't have any guns ready, the intruder could just run to grid, then come back again.

Yes, and that is a problem? If you are stupid/careless enough to lead someone evil to your tent, then you deserve it. Anyway, what are the mercs/slaves for?
