kala:
they are made from steel pieces welded and plastered with mig/mag welding machine little grinding little polishing and that is all for most of them

Ox-Skull:
is it stainless steel or mild steel.

what about aluminium? hav u worked with that.

kala:
any suitable piece
a work there are many laser and stamp leftovers of various steels so i pick the right shaped and sized
am only avoiding high alloyed cause some of them are hard to weld and usualy get too brittle after quenching

aluminium is not very suitable and i have only tig inverter to weld it and plastering with tig thou clean and smooth is very slow compared to mig-mag (wire feeder) so i avoid most aluminium alloys
yet it has great casting potential but i have only one semifinished pouring matrix

Ox-Skull:
Are u quenching it in water? when i did my courses in welding and tig welding, i learnt u can let it self cool to avoid the brittleness that comes from cooling it very quickly.U can also use airgun to cool it quiker.

kala:
ahm it is not quenching in the technical way it is just faster way to cool it by puting it into the quenching tank
the figurine need to be frequently cooled or acumulatet heat would just melt it into glowing heap
i can put it away too cool by itself but this takes too much time
using airgun on too hot steel makes nasty oxydized layer that usualy needs to be grinded away
