do mercenries need food/booze to stay loyal

MRtrader:
the mercs i have say pretty bad stuff when i talk to them which might indicate they are going to turn hostile on me.
Do i need to feed them? booze? beer? iguana on a stick?
how do i give it to them?
the line here i have something for you and then give something in barter?

Boon Lived:
You have to feed Mercenarys caps to raise their loyalty, the amount you give them is a certain % of the price you paid for them

I beleive its through dialog only.

hey thanks for fast awnser it was around 290 caps so what should i pay their loyalty is pretty low. do i give it trough the dialogue that leads to a barter screen?
