Hi All,
I am very new to the community as well as for the game. Actually I wanted to play, but I was unable to run it.
What I did is:
1. I have downloaded the game from advised link (
http://www.fonline2238.net/FOnline2238Client_19_11_2010.exe)
2. Run the installation
3. Using FOConfig.exe file I am updating server ip to: 176.9.105.171 ... Save and exit
4. Run the game by hitting 'Play' button and new screen shows up with options 'Play' 'Registration' 'Options' 'Credits' ...
5. 'Registration'. Once finished console is telling me: Version of the network protocol is incorrect, please update the client.
6. I input the login credentials and give a try (by hitting 'Play' button) without updating the client.
I am getting a loading screen ... after a while I am brought back to menu screen, console is saying:
Connecting to server.
Connection established, authentication...
... but nothing happens.
7. I gave a try with updater. When it comes to download a faction.zip file (almost 80MB takes ages for some reason, but I have 2 Mbps broadband) I am getting following message:
Connecting to the update server...

Download completed, took 5 seconds.
Downloading DataFiles.cfg. Size: 0 kb.
Download completed, took 0 seconds.
Downloading FO2238Config.exe. Size: 17 kb.

Download completed, took 3 seconds.
Downloading FOnline.exe. Size: 1668 kb.
Download completed, took 8 seconds.
Downloading FOnlineGL.exe. Size: 1634 kb.
Download completed, took 12 seconds.
Downloading data\faction.zip. Size: 78829 kb.
Download completed, took 9766 seconds.
Unknown message on file download.
...but the file is not within 'data' directory.
8. When I try to run the game I am getting:
Data File 'DataFiles2238.cfg' not found. Run Updater.exe.
then: Data File 'data\factioncritters.zip' not found. Run Updater.exe.
then: Data File 'data\faction.zip' not found. Run Updater.exe.
Any help most appreciated.
