I don't walk the dog in NCR or something like that, I just take it with me when hunting or questing.

You'd have to go out of your way to see, whether a dog is named or not. The fact that you have a dog is probably enough for what you're concerned about. Actually I don't think even that matters.
Highly in favor of the suggestion.
