Desert Europe - open or close source ?

a pack of

anyone?

JovankaB:
I don't really see any point in closed source model in case of FOnline projects based on Fallout (which can't be commercial).
Maybe except things that can be spoilers like quests etc. Besides spoiling players, what's the worst that can happen?
Someone taking your code/maps and improving it? LOL.

Mayck:
Making fode opensource might help some other projects which would want to use some of the fode stuff for themselves, but I don't think it would help with finishing the fode itself.

not exacly this. Sometimes people did send to us something, and we did add this to fode, but if we will put code, or part of code than other servers can use this. If some developers like for example idea like worldmap fighting, than they will able to use, change my scripts, and that will be much easier for them. If someone will send to us something improved, that will be nice. If someone will try make something better, what will be based FODE that will be too ok. Most of developers dont agree with open FODE SDK, but maby time will change it.
If i have this engine for free, than i can give something for this to other developers.

If someone will make few dialogs, that will be too very helpfull for us.

Now you went full retard (especially calling it theft and so). You should realize that no matter how brilliant idea or work you bring to the table, it's not your table at all. Imagine you make apple pie from apples that others collected. How does it now entitle you to decide who can eat it? And how could you just take it with you when you quit?
You should be able to grasp basics of teamwork without having them in any form of contract or agreement.

Yeah it's nice idea which keeps open source alive. And even though Fonline is not in any form of open source, it's still good initiative to keep it running.
Unfortunately you should also think about development life of Fonline mods. Pretty much everything of bigger scale is limited to single instance of server, and giving away free stuff without getting any (which happens a lot in this kind of environment) usually leads to exodus of players and lack of motivation to do any better.
I don't want to discourage you, but I don't think this community is ready for this kind of fair play.
