Two modes available for worldmap travel with high outdoorsman

That is only because it lowers the exp as you put more skillpoints into it.
Besides, in the end exp doesn't matter once you meet the max level, and exping by outdoorsman not an efficient way at all after about level 10.
So I would rather focus on the uses for it, rather than how to use it to exp...

I'm talking about killing things in encounters, not the measly xp you get for spotting them.

Are you sure about it? I always though it only looks like you encounter less because you get faster from point A to B (but in the same period of time you will get the same number of encounters on average, except you won't be forced into them as often).
