This means, if you have already created a tent, you can't share it with another character. But be careful, if *you* make a second tent to share it with your friend, you will lose your first tent. Each character can *create* only one tent, but can share any tent as long as they're created by other characters.

If your character has an Outdoorsman skill of 100% or more, you can get the Ranger support perk and when he builds a tent it will be automatically upgraded to Outdoorsman Camp or something like that: a small building with more containers and a basic workbench. But Outdoorsman Camp is a tent, so if you already have a tent, then get the Ranger perk, then create an Outdoorsman Camp, you will lose your tent.
