These are not bug reports. These are just my testimonials. I'm not complaining. Please don't give me a bunch of defensive, adversarial criticism for being a newbie or whatever. I'm just sharing my experience.

This is a cluttered post because i'd rather clutter up my post than clutter up your boards. Plus i'm broadening the topic for wider discussion.

Has anybody here seen "Dead Man?" (Jim Jarmusch 1995) It seems that an NPC dialogue with a tribal at one of the respawn camps references the film.
Nobody (indian): Did you kill the white man who killed you?
William Blake (dead yank): I'm not dead. Am I?

It would be funny if he asked me if i had any tobacco. "I don't smoke."

Here's another funny one. I read in the manual that if you don't heed the "keep your distance" dialogue, you will be killed.
I encountered some rangers killing rats, and i started patching them for experience points. I have a bad habit of doing this and it's killed me a couple times. This time, I was thanked by the last ranger i patched while his comrade shot me for not keeping my distance. Fortunately i wasn't carrying anything. I go on exploratory suicide rolls just to learn the map and test out the encounters. I deduce that, despite the obvious reasons of gameplay mechanics, he actually killed me for playing doctor with his girlfriend. Dumb bastard was the one who shot him with his flamethrower and caused the damage to begin with. It would be SO cool if certain classes of NPCs reacted to eachothers' "friendly fire" by shooting. I can just picture a lowly gang of raiders picking on one of their clumsy shooters. It could even domino into a chain reaction of infighting and chaos!

and here's an actual bug. i exited and reloaded the encounter just to verify.
i lack the patience to find out if this has already been reported, so this is not an official bug report. don't sue me.

"The eagle never lost so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow. "
-- Nobody

p.s.
"That weapon will replace your tongue. You will learn to speak through it. And your poetry will now be written with blood."

Nobody: You are being followed, William Blake.
William Blake: Are you sure? How do you know?
Nobody: Often the evil stench of white man precedes him.

Enzotainment:
Keep up the good work :-)
If I see Delphius, I'll try to entice him to take me on one of his exploratory endevours.

DeadMan is my favorite movie, it has its place in my top10 :) nice topic.
about the black hole swamp in the middle of a desert bug - I've encountered that too.
keep looking for the little things in this game, there's a lot moar than most people think.

A Dead Man fan! Instant buddy.

**offers you a nuka cola**

I want to know who wrote that encounter/npc. I'm not sure if they were actually thinking of Dead Man. Perhaps the wiki will provide programming credits about the different aspects of the game. The art - creative writing, visual art, and new music - is my primary interest in this game. I hope that the graphics people can hold true to the texture of old fallout. Hi res doesn't have to mean polished. I like that wasteland patina that keeps the atmosphere alive. So far, the only 3d graphics i've encountered were rad toads. Pretty decent... I want to show encouragement and gratitude to these artists, but I have strong feelings for pre-rendered bitmap graphics. They could perhaps take their 3d work and give it an acid bath in bitmap editing... More texture, more carnage, more depth and atmosphere. It would allow the artists to give less attention to technical frustrations and more to raw art. I heard 1 new audio track in the "water works" map. AWESOME. It reminded me of some Russian Fallout-themed music which I discovered on NMA years ago.
I still need to find out if anyone has made an official bug report of this broken swamp. I don't want to annoy the developers, so I'm keeping things in this cluttered string for now...

Thanks for the encouragement, Enzotainment. Perhaps I'll see you in the arid wastes of New California.

Yeah that water-tile bug is around there for a while. Its a case of http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=17525.msg179105#msg179105

Otherwise, good findings - I often smile at the many dialogues and persons found ingame too, beeing either creative or homages.
