Small suggestion about Awareness perk.
« on: February 10, 2012, 12:34:25 pm »

Hello, I believe the Awareness perk should be slightly changed:

_It shouldn't show the of HP, just the condition "lightly wounded, wounded, heavily wounded" something like that, so players cannot determine the actual strength of a critter.
Living Anatomy perk could give a more detailled description of wounds.

_It should show what the players have in both hands/holstered weapon.

_It should be automatically given to players with high perception (9-10) so they don't have to learn the perk from someone else.

Not showing the actual HP will prevent players from being 100% sure they can kill someone/something in one shot with their current weapon, add a little more randomness in combat etc.

Showing the holstered weapon is just obvious (but a perk could allow hiding it): Hello I have 1 assault rifle and a rocketlauncher in my hands, but you can only see one...

I think I explained why it should be automatically given to high perception characters: just realism, if no one can have that perk naturally or can learn it without anyone, then from where this perk comes from ?

This one looks good for me, but i dont see any game interest in other two.

Don't want to have both weapons seen to keep some "randomness" in combat

IMHO

Fair enough for the second point. But I still think that High perception should grant Awareness automatically.

Devs do enough nerfing even without your ideas bud ;)

Try on the other hand to come up with something that will improve the game not alter/nerf it...

It would be an awsomely long post then and a misc. one.
its not nerfing its realism.

Realism is nerfing.  Also realism should be kept to a minimum. Other wise first aid/doctor are useless.  Not to mention blindness would likely be permanent.  Not to mention death...

I never said the game should be entirely realistic (or the Fallout world wouldn't exist anymore, especially west side of San Andreas fault in 2238 after a nuclear winter.)

the whole point of awareness is to know what level the enemy is.

If you're talking TB, then you can just click on the guy anywy to see if he's wounded. From the dmg, the animation and the sound you can tell waht weapon he has. And I dont think that x ray vision to see what gun the enemy has on his back/in his pocket is all that realistic.

Anf if you're talking RT then you dont care about your enemies HP anyway and just shoot him. It's also no problem to guess what weapon the enemy has. Awareness as it is now of course is convenient, but in RT it doesnt change your decisions.

With other words, you're just taking away the one and only point of awareness.

Thank you for showing me that I definitely have nothing good to suggest. Actually I wasn't talking about X-ray vision, but when someone has a weapon holstered, you can know what it is, and sorry to tell you that a minigun on the back is not a secret weapon. Anyway, I realized that I should really shut up instead of writing idiotic things like that, sorry for all of you, who are losing your time reading this useless thread.
