I think it's rather 20.000, Brother Soifran painted 4500 pictures to do the CA black dude.

Attero:
yea but realy whaty you would need 3d models for? just hair cut?

you aint gonna add new weapons or anything i belive...

and long , short bold hair cuts would be enough , so there would be just need to make bold one and maybe some new female hair and thats all - i think it should still be way easier then modyfing engine and modeling all weapons /armors in 3d

Zaberish:
Attero, 3d is better, because it doesn't take as much resources as 2d (3d is planned for characters and weapons only). 20 000 pictures for ONE character... and how many characters are in-game now? About thousand i suppose...

DJ Bulva:
I dreamed about midlleaged men with "original" nick with long hairs in onehand hold supercatleprod on second hand sniper rifle.

Behind neck 2 mutants with some bigugns...or energy.

and some friends with him.

You may meet me in wasteland.......sure personallly.

Its all comix style, its main thing why i played this game.

If you want 3d play - play Runescape...etc. ;)

Nope, it wouldn't  :P. Actually even something as simple as a new hair style means a whole new model to develop. The number of pictures that needs to be drawn for this purpose = number of weapons * number of armors * number of actions that you can perform (shoot, walk, die, etc.) * number of directions (6) * number of frames per one animation (10 - 15)  ... eventually it's something like 10k pictures to draw, only to make a new hair style. If only one person does it, it takes years to complete. With this system, adding anything new is nearly impossible. The game looks like a clone invasion and nothing can be done with it, unless 3d models are implemented.

As far as I know, Fonline engine already supports 3d, all is just the matter of making a model that is as close to the original as possible. Some people already work hard on that  ;):
