Tier 0 stuff requirements.
« on: February 15, 2012, 12:29:14 am »

I suggest lowering crafting requirements for the weak weapons you can craft without a profession. I understand you want to make Better Stuff™ harder to get, but why do we, who just start leveling our characters, have to suffer more? Those pre-wipe reqs were perfect.
My character has 3 strenght and to craft a single 9mm mauser + 100 ammo, I have to walk from NCR to the mine and backwards 3 times, otherwise I'm overweight :D Such a waste of time.

Or lets just make a 10STR +pack rat/whatever alt, make a slaver or tame a brahmin(is 1CHA ok?), dig 400 pieces of ore/minerals at a time and make people complain that there are no resources in mines.

I kinda agree, last wipe low tier was perfected mats required.  Why was it changed in the first place? :-\

i do see the point that atm you need more materials to craft particular item, but I don't see the point to have any claims because of lack of strengh, while you are the one who decides how many points of strength your char will have.

So you think I should create a high strenght alt? :D
Even Solar said in another topic:

Good point, that's a lot harder to solve because we have no effective way of stopping them, outside of something like making carry weight gain less at higher strength
Well why not make requirements for low tier stuff low, so newbies/noobs(me) wouldn't complain so much because getting started would be so much easier!
You can still leave better stuff harder to craft!

Pre-wipe I could just create my char, get a basic pistol/knife and get on going in no time! That was so much fun. I didn't even need a mining/crafting alt, like now(I won't create one though, I'm gonna play my way/not gonna play until something changes about it).

Now even to create a shitty knife I need to visit a mine, which means of course getting dissapointed when the resources are depleted, which means more waiting and... Why do I even tell you that. We all know it would be nicer with lower requirements.

tottaly agree that low tier stuf should be easier to get. Anyway, low tier weapons will not stand a chance against high or even medium weapons (mauser against 10mm pistol? i bet that with same build 10mm will rip mauser's owner) and you are not able to sell this shit anywhere (never saw someone getting rich by selling mausers and pipe rifles), so it will not be a balance issue.

For the moment it is too difficult to get low tier stuf (almost as difficult as getting medium tier stuff when you know how too).

I believe that new players/low levels suffer a lot (i did).

This is your point of view guys, but I do not see fun in making everything much easier.
Is that hard to do a few of quests just to collect 1,5k of caps to buy your very first profession? It is like up to 2 hours of your time.

And because caps are so valuable it will be no problem to buy 10 brahim hides to set your tent. So you can stock your goods, materials and so on.

IMO, there is nothing hard. Just need to read first some guides on this forum to learn basics, that's all.

What does it have to do with the Tier 0 stuff this topic is about?

Argh, a tent? This topic is not about tents! It's about guns!

well, i agree that it is not so much of an issue for an experienced player.

But for a newbie? Do you really need to read guides to start a game? Ok, even if you read the guide and you know (in thiorie) what to do, you have plainty of occasions to die and to lost all you have before establishing first tent. as far as i know not all quest are repeatable. This makes life of begginers TOO TOUGH without bringing any fun (except if i'm missing something).

The idea is not to make everything easier, but making 0 tier stuff easier to obtain. It will not hurt gameplay or remove fun, but it will let begginers to survive and learn instead of ragequitting after loosing their 9 bramin hides in silly encounter where PK ape droped.

I consider myself an experienced player, playing for 2 years.
It's an issue for me because it's boring.
Of course I can make an alt in 2 minutes and dig 400 units of each resource, deplete all the mines, craft shitloads of items, start stockpiling them and be like "yay, I'm sustained for this wipe".
But I don't want to. It takes the fun out.

Bring pre-wipe crafting requirements for the Tier 0 stuff ONLY. Please. Argh! You even took Xander Root from Weak Healing Powder, so I need to look for Broc Flowers. How annoying!
