Mercenary won't carry/accept my items

So then here i buyed my first mercenary after the wipe so she could carry my items, but when i barter with her she doesn't accept my items... i click on trade but nothing happens, and when i want to take items from her (she has 1x starting stimpak) she want caps for it, i click trade and she says it's not enough for trade from my side.It is a hand to hand fighter professional fighter costed me 302 caps, so i gave full info about my problem... is it a bug or it should be like that?

I heard that its meant to be like that, but thats what i heard. Atleast the Brahmin don't do that.

Apparently it is supposed to be like that, you can indeed give them caps (or a single cap) when you try to give them a different weapon but they will want money if you try to take their stuff (kinda annoying trying to give one ammo/superior weapons but oh well)

so what happens when my mercenary run out off ammo? i need to get rid o him and buy another one cause he's uselles now? and another question where will i get some merc/follower who can carry my items? but will have some moore hp and action points so he won't die on sight after the battle begins like brahmin.I've made a sg burster and wanted to farm some items for trade but don't have much carry weight and i need some survivable companion.

Here is an idea, find a friend who has decent carry weight and wants help levelling, if you only want to farm items and they want experience you could make an arrangement where you nearly kill NPC, they finish them off and carry the stuff for you. As long as you can trust them not to do a runner with the stuff on WM.

Personally I would love to have a higher lvl buddy to go hunting with my melee guy as he's a bit weak at the moment.
