Amazement followed by a question.
« on: January 29, 2012, 02:53:10 am »

Last session I had that dinky outpost base, and always wanted to trade up to a bunker (It just looked cool, ya know?), but never got around to it. Eventualy I began to wounder what the new session would bring, and I figured that it must have a new base or two. So that raises the first question, why are the no bases? <New bases are always fun> :P

The next question would be, why is the bunker a non buildable base. It was sad to find out i wouldn't have a bunker this session either.

Thanks in forward

Because there are barely any caps in the wasteland and in traders' inventory...

Ok, then someone answer me this. How do you actualy buy a bunker base when it cost half a mill. That was a week or two worth of work last season, I can't even imagine the time it would take to get one this season.

Thanks

I don't think the old bunker is meant to be very accessible. :)

And the reason you can't build it is because you buy it by paying the ghoul to tell you where he saw it. So building it would make little sense.

It's pretty logical that you can't build yourself such base, you don't have vault tec technology available !
Anyway, bunkers last season were a waste of caps because of shitty spawn location, not to mention shitty efficiency (for the second point, you can live with it). Now it's even worse, because caps have greater value.
Why dev made an awesome base map to make it spawn only at the worst location you can imagine for the most insane price you can imagine? Good question. I doubt they even know the answer themselves.

I heard the devs and GMs talking about it that the Old Bunker is bugged right now... try buying it until most bugs are solved in a while, like after a few updates or so...

That's even funnier than before, it was a waste of caps, but at least you had access to a cool map. No you won't even have that!

It's kind of a waste of caps, not so much, because there is lost of space with private lockers, rooms, etc. and since you can have like 50 helpers now, because of speech and Charisma, it is like a territory to factions now...

Thats why I want a construction site for it, becuase the price is eventualy possible, even through nearly not, I just want to put it where I feel is right, not some where near the glow.

Not exacly a game maker/scripter so I don't know how hard it would be to do this but...

Make a quest where you will need to get mining parts from redding (because of FO2). Then buy the construction worker. Make some insane amount of junk/metal/electronic parts/wood + the 10K (heck make it 100K, I don't care). Then the base builder will make you a bunker.

In return developers are rewarded with a happy me : D ... just a suggestion though...

Why not a GECK? You could aquire the GECK and science like 10 hides to create a small town for a base. Getting the GECK would require a very long and hard quest. Some caps would be required to continue parts of the quest.

Because the GECK isn't a magic town building set, even if Fallout 3 made it look like a terraformer machine. The GECK has information about lots of stuff, a small water purification so-and-so, some seeds and chemicals. Nothing with which you build a town in a few minutes. Additionally, the GECK was meaned to be used with Vault equipment, like Vault City has done it. The Vault interior gets cannibalised for a new town in the outside. So as long as you don't have a Vault around the corner, a GECK is pretty useless.

Well, original fallout was made in different age with people who thinked differently(karma, luck etc.). You cant apply same point of view as you have today on something what was made in different age, at this case it's logic and materialism. The world, age and people are changing, perceptive people can see the difference. Anything made just from cold logic feels empty, this age is empty recycling things from past who had some of the feel in it. If you think its not true, and that there are new things that still have some of the deep, i have to dissapoint you, its just about the lack of knowlage of how those things were made. This realism and logic, there has to be end of this somewhere near, it wont end well.
