Is the advance work bench working yet?

How do you get the advanced work bench to work?

There are Advanced Worbenches throughout the wasteland:
- there is one guarded in inner area of Gun Runners (you have to be Liked to get there)
- another one is at Mariposa Military Base on 4th floor (but it does not look like the one in your FixBoy)
- and there the last one is in Toxic Cave on 1st floor, but this one is guarded by two nasty Sentry Bots with miniguns

Yeah, I was like "Cool, this one is close to my homeplace". But those Sentry Bots are not something I can handle :D
But I bet you can handle them easily. Just have look at their DR/DT :P
