Let's talk about encounters
avv:
I don't expect to, but would like to (as would probably everyone else too) know how encounters work.
As a farmer, I roam some squares back and forth, get enc, choose whether or not to go in, check what's it like, blast everything or get blasted and then handle the loot.
However I spent most ammount of time (hours) on worldmap going back and forth, basically doing nothing and being invisible to other players. It takes mere minutes to handle an encounter and go back to worldmap. I think this is a bit bad for gameplay. It would be much enjoyable for all of us if we spent more time in locations and less time on worldmap. Spent as much time as we wanted on fighting and looting those encounters and then we could do something else.
In short: more action, less back and forth movement on worldmap. Or explain us how encounters work so we can manage our time apropriately. Meaning that we can figure when an encounter can be met in a square and if it's better to go somewhere else for a while.
Solar:
All the time you are moving around you have a chance of finding an encounter, this chance is set per square.
The chance has to be low enough that you can get around the WM without a billion encounters but high enough so you are not just endlessly circling around.
Michaelh139:
I say it's balanced as is honestly.
your either looking for uber duber encounters like supermutants or enclave or bos? Or it's just a string of bad luck maybe?
avv:
Could be great to somehow reduce or increase the chance of encounter. You know, purposefully search for them or purposefully avoid them. This would please everyone because some people have goals and plans when moving on worldmap and they either involve finding encounters or don't.
It's about fleshing out time spent on things that don't matter or provide nothing to the gameworld. Racing back and forth in a square is just that.
Are there some sort of buffers and cooldowns for encounters? So if I just found unity, I won't find it after certain time?
Swinglinered:
Why ask for a priori/clairvoyant knowledge?
If you do something/adopt a methodology, you have the C&C of it.
Encounter farming means grinding on WM.
That is the Price.
