Start getting junk and wood...we are gone need a ton of BB bullets and BB rifles...those trades have guns..we have BB guns..

Also, someone mentioned private mines. Is there now a reason to buy them?

That's not true. They moved him, he's outside the moat now, northeast side kinda, where the merchant is.
