Not really sure what you mean, faction member just joined BoS to get armorer 3, probably less than a month ago. If you're in a faction already you'll have to leave it, join BoS, get your professions, leave BoS in San Fran bunker, punch the scribe and let him kill you, and then join your regular faction again
