Lower Nasty Floaters' amount of poison attack
« on: November 30, 2011, 11:00:03 am »

I'd like to see poison attacks of Nasties to be less severe...

All the base info can be found here: http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=19289.msg161977#msg161977

I would suggest to increase it even more and bulletproof sunglasses to molerats and ubersharp claws that ignore armor and deal some multiplied damage in comparison to current! And of course in RT all animals should run faster than players. And in TB they must have some Bonus Move perks. In RT they must reach you in something like 2 seconds and in 2.5 seconds if you're running from them. So encountering 4 mutated molerats alone should be surely death, if only you have some nice bursting weapon and use it on them in point blank 4 times in a row before die or if you simply have low outdoorsman skill because you're powerbuild and went through wrong place to your destination.

Anyway this suggestion useless, as after wipe critters will be changed anyway, and from "knock downs" from Closed beta board I think poison will seem good feature for you in comparison to knock downs. Just imagine, something like deathclaw reaches and you and you're perma knocked down, nice!

One of the rare creatures that actually posses some kind of threat and you want it to be nerfed , no thanks.

Those ultimate knockdowns are not intended as they are reported and counted as a bug , see known issues thread of CBT.

Apparently you didn't notice they were power upped comparing to F2
3 hits and often you're dead from poison

And in RT when they come at you in 2,5 seconds Ravenous? I'll tell you a quote from Commandos-B.E.L.: "Why won't you try it boss!?"

Well I wasn't XPing for a very long time, may be like 1/2 year, may be even more. I level'ed my sniper yesterday to 21st in few hours on mutated moles. 1st, when I was low level, I used fake BA/CA from.. umm... testing bug, to not die from moles when I had low HP, a bit later when I had better CtH% in the eyes, I was able to do it in bluesuit without moving at all as they couldn't even reach me, mutated moles encounters gives you from 2 to 4 moles, if they are less than 4, they are dead where they stand without even starting moving to you, if they are 4, then 2 dead on starting positions, 3rd dies in few hexes later and 4th dies between you and starting positions, it gives you 1200 XP in like 10 seconds. So I suggested to reach you almost instantly, and when reach, kill you very fast ;p

3 hits and what .... don't over exaggerate it's not a viable argument to change anything.

It supposed to be one of the toughest melee creatures in the game , aside from other npc's this one actually posses threat if you let it get close , it should be like that.

I am still amazed at ravenousrat skills to provide so much pointless information in such a short amount of time. :) , it's like listening to 4 different radios at the same time.

Oh man! Hunting Nasties is a world apart from hunting muta-molerats
Try it yourself and see how you'll be dying from their poison

As to you T-888 why wont you fix your common sense unit already?
The most deadly and XP yearning critters are deathclaws giving way more xp than nasties YET with Nasies' poison attack the can be almost as deadly as Deathclaws

No thanks , no upgrades or fixes needed at the moment.

Can be almost as deadly as deathclaws , the point is almost doesn't count. Deathclaws still have close to 1.5 times more health , much more resistant and as far as i know , their eye hits with bypasses and KO's concern me more than some poison damage , from witch you can be protected by antidotes , armor as well high endurance , personally i always picked some antidotes when i was leveling , never had a problem. Only if i loose focus and i forget about the stacking poison and that like happens close to never.

Your suggestion is not well put , i'm sorry.

Well it doesn't concern ME more
AND What the hell are you talking about? How can armors protect you from poison? PLUS Snipers (and other than HP meatbag builds) don't have high EN so they can die in few hits since each hit adds more poison than a dose of antidote can neutralize instantly.

So your point is not well put , i'm sorry.

Yes please. In addition make them unable to move. I'm not joking. Levelling is just ammount of hours spent on dispensing ammo on certain npcs.

Ahh i forgot armors don't give poison resistance.

That's the penalty you face with low endurance , you are fragile , shit doesn't that make sense ? Antidotes heal up poison much more over time , the same is with rad-aways and when you go to glow , radiation stacks up so fast you can " out heal " it in the long run only , i even doubt your statement that one hit adds more poison than antidote can handle instantly.

That's the point it's already ridiculous easy to deal with centaurs/floaters.

btw i know a trick how to make most of the npc's in an encounter unable to move at a certain point , if you are interested to know pm me :)

Of course it makes sense BUT the issue lies in balance
Let's take AGility for example: Dude1 has 4AG Dude2 has 10AG
Dude1 can shoot once Dude2 can shoot twice per turn

In the case of ENdurance
Dude3 has 4EN(20% poison res.) Dude4 has 10EN(50% pois. res.)
(They both have single Life giver and 21 lvl having respectively 145HP and 220HP (plus/minus few - ST dependant)
Once their poison count is maxed (up to 100) Dude3 will die in 3 hits and Dude 4 will die in like 10 hits so the difference in balance is greater than in case of AG
And take into account that lower level players with 4EN are pretty much in danger compared to high levels

So if Nasty Floaters' Poison count per attack is like 50-60 i'd like to keep that high but not as high as now... Let's say 30-50 poison count would seem more balanced for people 12lvl- with 4EN

Instead rising Nasties regular damage would be more viable (after lowering poison counts)

It's not 50-60 , is there something wrong with your sense of judgment or you just tell me random things hopping those would sound reasonable to me ?

What's wrong with you , the fact that is one of the rare occasions that you can get poisoned at all and this time it actually means something not some scorpions that pose utterly no threat , where high endurance comes into more help than just making " meatbags ". It's a balance by itself if you choose a character with low specific specials , you make a tradeoff that will somehow make a difference in your gameplay , in this case it would mean there would be no significant difference between low and high end characters , how is that balance ?

If you decrease the amount of poison damage and increase the raw normal damage they do , in the end it will result in the same overall damage + higher damage on bypasses , you may even make them more powerful than they are , pointless suggestion that is not well put.

I have told enough you just now process the information i given and be smart , don't embarrass yourself.

The comparison with agility and endurance is just hilarious , 4 agi vs 10 agi i could say that the guy with 10 agi has ~+40% more action compared to the guy with 4 agi ;D trolololo

Can you remind me why leveling should be how is it right now? I can see floaters working as they are, if the only reason to kill them is not just leveling.
