Killing NPC faction member rep cap.
« on: October 17, 2011, 10:34:27 pm »

Killing someone who is a member of Vault City lowers your VC rep. The amount of rep lost should be capped so player does not become shoot on sight for the NPC faction.

Example, Make a bluesuit char that is a VC citizen that does nothing but loot and hassle opposing factions during TC(or any random time). Opposing faction members will eventually never be able to enter VC, and VC patrols will shoot on sight. 10hp opposing faction members will have to get to Gecko and be lucky to not encounter VC patrols. Can also never meet at Vault City.

A single bluesuit that trolls long enough anywhere on map can affect TC at Gecko.

Nice strategy.

All is well.

VC wants Gecko for itself, so why not harass and interdict interlopers?

Agreed. That Rep drop should be removed, even though the scenario you described is rare and unheard of before.

vc faction is for doctors to get the last profession why would a fighter join them rather then a player faction in which tc can be done?

The amount of rep lost should be capped so player does not become shoot on sight for the NPC faction.

And why is that? When entering players' base, do You get greeting comitee and flowers or a freaking wall of bullets?
One joins a faction for safe place to conduct their bussiness. Sure NPC controlled "bases" aka towns offer shops over player controlled bases, but tey don't send groups armed with LSWs and BAs to chase You around the Wasteland...

They send bluesuits to scout and loot. If you see a random bluesuit taking your teammates pile of loot, you are going to shoot. And if that bluesuit happens to have 200 OD and 2 pathfinders and VC membership then never expect to go to VC.

VC is for VC Citiezens. Everyone else are mutants. Play fallout2 and learn. Same goes for BoS and Enclave.
Raiders are basically evil faction. So I can`t see anything wrong.

To roleplay VC Patrol...
Also one more thing.
There`s nothing to do in VC b/c it`s just a beta. There IS to be more content in VC, Raiders, Navarro and some Bunker later so you will not only get profession and some BMG there...

The real problem is not knowing whether they are of this faction or not. (you dont have the choice of whether or not to shoot, because you have no idea who this guy is). Besides that, NPCs require to have Radios for there to be a reputation detriment.  Yet players can just get shot and their faction magically knows who did it?

Because they tell everyone after magically respawning, unlike Wasteland-roaming NPCs.

If  you're just trying to be funny I laughed a bit, but if you're trolling, I still laugh, because there is a clear difference as to why players magically respawn and npcs don't.  However every time you die, there is a dialogue explaining what happened, and as far as I can tell, your character doesn't remember jack-shit every time.  So such an arguement is null :>

Even if you know someone is a VC citizen you will shoot them if they are taking your teammates BA and avenger in the middle of TC.
Just need to make a new alt if you have any business to do in VC.

Like I said, they should need to at least have radios on them for rep detriment to take effect, just like NPCs.

After that, the rep detriment should be according to items base value, and tier.  Otherwise very little rep should be lost.
