The pathfinder perk
« on: April 28, 2010, 08:32:40 pm »

Just a thought about the pathfinder perk. I notice that when traveling in a group the highest outdoor skill of a person in the group is used in avoiding fights (or selectively choosing which fight you want). I thought perhaps it would add some flavor if the leader of the group would also be affected by someone in the group if they had the pathfinder perk. I figured this would add some diversity to who peoplel would want take into groups for faction missions/battles or just solo players looking for a good player to group with the benefit of the person allowing the group to travel faster.

Someone in the group tell the leader which is the best path... it makes a sense...

if you want to get in character about it.

you'd have to have enough CHA to beat the know-it-all type you have for a leaders mind set, other wise if he's open to suggestions and knows enough to know you're right than i don't see a reason why you couldnt have 2 CHA and still not give the leader tips and hints.

cheers.

I winked at end. I support idea of group using patchfinder perks of members and outdoorsman skill of player with highest outdoorsman skill value.

Have each person check outdoorsman separately and give best result to the group as far as encounters are concerned.

For speed: average everybody's speed.
The faster ones are slowed down waiting for slower ones, and slower ones are helped to speed up by the faster ones.
A Pathfinder perk (maximum of 2) in the mix would still count if not on the leader but is averaged in.

If the leader has Pathfinder, then use the average of everyone's Outdoorsman for speed, with the leader's counted twice (not Doubled, the leader is counted twice to skew the average) PLUS the Pathfinder working at full power.

If leader has only one Pathfinder level, it counts full and up to one more Pathfinder level can be counted for follower- but that one will be averaged in.

Sounds complicated, but it would be a good compromise.
