Stupidity rehab
Ganado:
Once, I wasn't paying attention to who was following me, and next thing I know, a guy named "Forrest" shoots me with his .44 Magnum Revolver, and then shitted in my mouth in a random encounter. Forrest was funniest NCR troll ever. Also, I miss "blubber", but he was unarmed troll that couldn't fight, just tags you and tries to get lucky unarmed hit. He never succeeded in anything to my record though.
Also, the first time I saw active dynamite back in 2009, I picked it up... Shiny red glow! Bad idea. It was right after an explosion and all of the victims' loot was on the ground all over.
--- Quote ---I went back in the game to check whats what... i see mercs running to the right. Yes. They got him. Im just heading to NCR to give the man some caps.
--- End quote ---
You have Stockholm syndrome or something? Why would you give the player that tried to rape your base money? Don't mean to be rude, I just don't see why you would do that. :-\
Klaatu:
Stupidity? Ah, I seem to have lots of it.
I also have bad memories of dynamite. A long time ago I was hanging around in VC, when someone planted a bomb on me. I noticed it and dropped it immediately to avoid being blown up. Well, I didnt blow up, but the guards killed me in a fraction of a second. Later on I read some info about dynamite and bombing and learned that I should have just ran to the worldmap and then drop the bomb. The irony of the story is that I was right at the gate, only a few hexes away from the safety of the worldmap... I wish I had known about that back then...
My second experience of my own stupidity has also taught me something. NEVER TRUST ANYONE! I was still a noob and made "friends" with a more experienced player who helped me to hunt. Well, soon after that I wanted to do some mining, and before that I had to drop my loot to my tent. The dude asked me if he could temporarily store his stuff at my tent to be able to carry more minerals and ore and I agreed. Can you guys guess what happened next? Yep, you guessed it. I had already dropped my armor and weapons when he started shooting at me and I didnt even understand what was going on until I was lying in a puddle of blood. After respawn I rushed back to my tent to see if he was still there. I was hoping I could somehow grab some gear and magically slay him. Well, he was still there looting all the stuff that was on the ground and noticed my arrival. I made a quick change of plans, rushed to the brahmin hides, grabbed 10 of them and made it to the exit grid. I thought that my tent is now compromised for good and that he could come back any time for another raid, so I made the hard decision to nuke my tent. If I can't have that stuff, neither can he! And so I built a new tent right next to my old one. Poof, all stuff gone. You can only imagine my thoughts when I read the wiki article about tents and realised that my tent would be safe again once the guy had left. Luckily I was just a noob back then, so I didnt loose anything valuable in the nuking process.
Then there is the story of me killing a thief, which involves more bad luck than stupidity. Someone tried to rob me, got caught, I bursted him and accidentally hit a merchant. There was nothing I could have done to save my hide from the angry guards. Damn thieves, they not only rob you, but sometimes even get you killed.
In my most recent brain fart I got pwnt purely because of my own stupidity. I was trading in VC, when I realized that somebody had stolen some ammo from me. I had a good hunch of the suspect, so I waited at the gate for him to arrive. Soon he arrived with another dude and it appeared that they were trying to rob each other (and me). I watched a while and avoided their robbing attempts until I saw something I had been waiting for. One of the guards shouted out a warning, saying "Player A, Player B is interested in your possessions!" I immediately bursted this suspected thief and got wasted by the guards in an instant. I was quite confused for a second, but after reading the log I realized why they killed me. I FUCKING SHOT THE WRONG GUY! The guard had in fact warned my suspect of a thief, not the other way around. But in all my excitement, I somehow misread the text and thought that my suspect was unprotected. Well, apparently he wasn't... All I could say was le fu. So I lost my gear and my rep in VC went down 100 points. I had a slight feeling of rage growing inside me, because I naturally blamed him for the whole mess. However, I was lucky and the server crashed moments after this unfortunate event and when it finally came back online, the situtation had been reverted back to the point before I even got robbed. Not so bad after all. :P
Bartosz:
In the old times of post-obt2 testing, I was roaming around with an APA and flamer, stumbled upon centaur and a friend I haven't seen some days. He was wearing an APA too (it was easy to obtain it back then), I said 'I will help' nonetheless. I shot at centaur, but somehow that friend went into the line of fire, I fried him(sweet flamer crits). Next shot, centaur did some crit to me and I was lying dead as well.
Was funny when we were chatting lying on on the ground waiting for respawn after such situation.
Lexx:
Critical fail with flamer was the best. I fried quite a lot people by accident, just because they had been close to me and my character was too stupid to hold it into the correct direction. And of course because the flamer was far too strong-- killed everything with one hit.
Geras:
Some time ago i got a highwayman for the first time (imagine my joy not being killed by yakuza or pk inside the city). After the purchase i still had like 30 k caps on me, so i quickly went to my tent to gear up a bit (i took my very first 0% det CA, some gun and vault city day pass) and decieded to go shopping to vc with my new highwayman.
I wasn't that noob to park in the city and go away, so i left my car a few squares away on the wm and rushed to the inner city gate where the guards shot me on sight and took my stuff away. I was like "WTF?", but then i checked the game clock and it was like 10 pm or something.
After those 60 seconds to respawn i quickly (?) traveled back to the city and still managed to pick up my CA :) Anyway, i lost 30 k caps to the guard, i guess he was happy. And yes, i had the car key on me, so it was taken away together with the money, lol. I didn't have a spare one. I lost my joy to the highwayman, so i showed him to some random guy and told him that he can take it if he can pick the lock.
4 days or so passed and i checked on the car if it's still there on the marked spot, and there he is, so i got myself and honest lockpicker and i'm enjoying the car ever since :)
