How do i make a tent

hello i have tried twice to make a tent 1st with 10 brahmen hides it said i needed more to make a tent so i got 13 but it still wont work please explain

treminater:
step 1: open inventory
step 2:click and hold left click on the hides
step 3:scroll to the vault boy icon and release mouse button
step 4:click science skill

congradulations you now have a tent(dont feel bad i couldent figure it out at first too)
