This is an idea i've been working for about a week, hope you enjoy the presentation
The whole idea is to make solo players lives easier with this suggestion. There are slaves, mercs and dogs to join you in you on your journey across the wastelands. But nobody has ever thought of the idea of a sidekick.
The basic rules for the sidekick is that he is never permanently dead, and cannot pick up loot and that he cannot be looted, neither will he help you in a fight if you start it, he does not count in the party size, but follows you around in your adventure, however, with every advantage there is a disadvantage, players in a faction will not have the pleasure of using a sidekick, only the leaders of the faction, you will only be able to receive one once you reach level 12, he will only respawn 40 minutes after death and rejoins you, he does not shoot thieves.
There are 2 modes  and 3 distances you can use
Frontal - advances on the enemy and spawns in front of you
Covering fire- Spawns behind you and disengages if enemy gets too close.

Short- Stays 2 hexes away from you when not in combat
Medium- 5 hexes
Long- 7 hexes

the sidekicks are organised into six classes with two specializations, the npc that (sells?) them will be able to upgrade their equipment, and they carry enough mags for three reloads in a battle but if use single shot weapons (rocket launcher, grenades) they get enough for 10 reloads, if primitive throwing weapons they get 25.

the classes and specializations are as follows
Unarmed: Boxer & Martial Artist
Melee: Brute & Knife Fighter
Throwing: Tribal & Grenadier
Small Guns: Sniper & Commando
Big Guns: Tank & Damager
Energy Weapons: Cyborg & Scientist

Each specialisation has weaknesses and strengths which i will Continue in the next post
