brahmin hides----tent

I go into an empty square in the map, the encounter is empty of NPC just the map with tress or rocks or moutains. Then I drop 10 hides on the gound, use "science" on it. But it still says not enough hides to build tent.

So I walk to other empty spots and tried a few times and it still won't let me build tent.

I relogged a few times on other character. Then the last try, I click hides and hold mouse button to use skills and select science and it finally build a tent.

The easiest way to build tent = Find empty encounter map - no caves! and not all city maps as only a handful of city maps work.

10 Hides in inventory, hover mouse over hides in inventory, click/hold/drag mouse to access mouse menu, select use skill on (head icon), select science skill.

You should now be standing in front of your tent unless you have ranger perk in which case you should be standing in front of safe house.
