In my case, after getting killed a million times in the turret trap and being transported to the exploding jail cell, we got teleported to the NCR copy area entrance. Some people had gotten hold of armour and weaponry and were mowing down bluesuits as we ran past them.
I died a few times this way, not seeing where my body went. I relogged and found out I was in a really tight space with all the other people. There were two boxes I could see which contained the ammo and weaponry and armour, and a 1-hex exit out of there into the greater compound area. Needless to say, PKers started blowing people up, and the idiots at the entrance weren't moving until Aldo got the great idea of burstfiring his minigun on anyone who was pausing at the entrance.
Then the admins decided to kick roughly half of the 250 players or so gathered out of the event by removing the respawn point at the map and rocketing random people. Guess which law-abiding player got kicked out while PKers roamed the event?
That was fun, if by fun you meant a colossal waste of time.
Here are a few suggestions to improve the event the next time you think of something like this.
- Allow multiple entry points into the event. I.e. at different cities instead of all piling into one area.
- Organize people into smaller teams or squads. People will feel a greater affiliation which each other and be less likely to blow themselves up. It is also easier to control in a general sense.
- Have multiple spawn points with multiple exits so people can arm themselves quickly and easily.
- Totally disable or autoban firing when the target is another player, while within the event area.
