Skin Changes (Possible Solution)
« on: February 03, 2010, 06:14:02 am »

I Think I Might have something to Solve the Skin Changes ONECE AND FOR ALL!

There Would Be a NPC in NCR, And Vault City, You Talk to Them, In the Dialog You Say
" I Would Like To Change My Appearance"
Then It would Come up With " Use Say to Enter the Skin ID "
Then You say The ID. And There You have it!
You have Been Changed, For Free.. No Hassle For Moderators 24/7 People Can Always access This Guy,..

So What Do People Think?  8)

The option would be one time only - for free. For every next change you have to bring 10 power armors. No exceptions.

Dumb idea, the reason not all skins are given out is because of missing animations, etc. Some of them don't even have moving animations so entering an ID number for the skin just isn't practical. It would have to be something like "I wanna be a mutie" or "I wanna be a ghoul" and even then you have to deal with the missing animations problems.

Good idea but I see it differently. Just the npc could be a hairdresser saying hairdresser sentence and not asking for an id (for a more rp aspect). And he could only change your skin by skins offered to players.
Race system is not ready because of some animations problems (if I don't make mistake). And there is something else about race system, I think this system need to offer different possibilities of character building which need to extend SPECIAL. And it's really not the priority for now (I guess).
So a hairdresser npc could be an easy solution to stop annoying gm about avaible skins for players (gm mission is not to grow your hair). And race system would wait.

would make it a whole lot easier to become a longhairdude, i really like them simply because of the full vaultdweller swedesuit (the short hair guy does not have a 13 on his back)

I think players know the animations are incomplete. So long as they're told and they don't mind, I can't see what the problem is. So long as they are absolutely beaten over the head with the fact they can't use most weapons or armour, I think it's a nonissue.

If players know they can't use armour and some weapons, why not?

Yeah I Agree With Writing In tHe ID's... But. That Would Make You Needing a MASSIVE Dialouge.. for Heaps of the Skins, Unless Some ID's Are Restricted, So If You Want a Skin Change You mightn't Have Some Weps.. But You Need To Make That Choice.( Possibly Making a Skin ID thread, I Would Do That if this was Programmed. )

One could not see different "hair cuts" on the player models (except maybe of long haired and bald dudes) ingame. So it would be ridicolous that one could go to a barber and come out with a totally different skin.
If you ask me, one should acquire different skins through actions ingame. A player who actually playing his role as person xy should be able to get the skin he wants, player who just wants to be a mutie for teh lulz shouldn't be allowed to get his skin changed.
