What about stealing?

So, why is Steal skill, still in the game if it is despised and unwelcomed? You don't need guards in workbench, you already were flagged all the time before...
-You awalys get flagged for stealing for the first time in town. Makes you flagged all the time = useless skill because you will die.
-You lose huge amounts of reputation for the first steal when you are unflagged. (each next steal from players is -100 later)
-Players are lazy and don't want to pay attention to anything, now stealing, tomorrow killing will be excluded from the game.
-It would be ok if you couldn't steal near guards and so on... but you will be flagged anywhere you steal, so its more rewarding to steal near guards if you are going to get flagged anyway... Steal might be a good idea, to get items off players that are outside the guards view and leave their chars unattended somewhere, but with the amount of guards on every corner - it is still useless though.
Just wondering, since we are err... testing (or so we are said), so I test steal with uber-skillful character and say it is hard, especially with the reputation drops.
Loosing -800 reputation for getting cought once is pretty harsh for someone who wants to play that way.

then i guess you shouldn't, you don't get exp for it as far as i know as well.

I have never played as a thief, but I agree. Having to watch for thieves all the time was once fun.
First they cry that there are too many thieves at the workbench, then they cry that the workbench is too crowded.
