Need help with my Internet and/or computer.
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:10:46 am »

Ok I'm gonna have to explain this very much for it to make sense.

2-3 Days ago, my computer for some odd reason, suddenly is REALLY REALLY slow when dealing with the internet.  FOnline runs perfect, web-pages like this forum run perfectly fine.  Mumble is fine.  Mirc is fine.  But things like:  Newgrounds.com, Youtube, and some job application sites and Ebay.com are either

1.  EXTREMELY slow to load.
2.  Do not load at all and your just stuck with a blank screen.
or
3.  Loads "Some" of the page.

Also, when it does load the page, if it has for example, a video being loaded, it is now 4 times slower than it used to be on 2-3 days ago.  Sometimes it doesn't even load the video area, and it's just stuck.

This has never happened before, and I have defragged, optimized, and scanned for malware with multiple programs.  for example:  Advanced SystemCare 4.0.0, Smart Defrag2, and default Internet tools.  I've deleted tons of stuff I don't need and it is still slow or unresponsive.

I REALLY need some help.  Gettin really anxious here.  :-\

Ok, updated my Adobe Flash Player.  I tried running some youtube and newgrounds.com vids.  Still slow as fuck.  No apparent difference.   :'(

Try deleting some useless things that just sit on you're computer, if this dont work try a virus scan

Deleting history also helps, makes everything run faster ;]

How much memory are you using up?... maybe try buying more memory/ram

My friend andrew says maybe someong could be hacking into you're computer  :o

There are some problems betwen Internet service providers (ISP) and Youtube that might account for the slowdowns you have encountered. People use so much bandwidth to use youtube, and ISPs dont want to pay the extra money it would take to bring it quickly to home users. So in the end it is slow as fuck to load a 360p video.

Don't know aboout you, but it's a problem in my country, and i've experienced such unexplainable slowdowns.

Go to windows/system32/drivers/etc and open file "hosts" with a notepad. If should look like this:

Code: [Select]
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1       localhost
# ::1             localhost

If it's different from this, then you should delete this file and restart your computer. This file will be automatically created again.

You should set hidden folders as visible. Check this for tutorial how to do it.
