Blocking
« on: December 30, 2009, 02:04:07 am »

I had block the enter of a tent at NCR. I moved and was write <blocking> above my head and MWKEBE hit me for this, guards don't react, when I hit him, guards killed me.

Blocking might be like robbery.

Well, if you are tagged, other players can attack you. This is due to the fact that many players liked it to "gank" others with blocking paths, etc. so these couldn't leave buildings or other closed environments. In normal, guards / the game should warn you first and taggs you, if you don't move away after the warning.

General rule: Try to not stand in doors when guards are around or if you are in a guarded town.

Hello Lexx,
today I went to Junktown. There is a house with two dogs standing in the enterance near to the Trash can with Junk and El.parts.

When I wanted to enter the house and opened the door, I found the dog in the enterance. I tried to interact with the dog and a few seconds later, I got the (Blocking) tag.

My opinion is that "Blocking" an NPC dog which stands in the door, and who does not intend to move even a bit should not trigger the "Blocking" tag mechanism. Is there a way to remove this tag from my head? Now I'm not safe in Junktown   :'(

The problem is that mechanics don't see this as 'blocking the poor mutt', but rather as 'blocking given hex'.

And believe me, making it so game checks who is in/wants to enter the room you are blocking is not something simple :)

but still, the companion AI is dumber than shit actually, i once had a dog early in the game and guess where my dog stopped, yes, that's right in a forbidden hex and got put down by the guards once it moved. maybe only allow the pking for blocking to happen while you are in the doorway or allow a longer time to stand in a doorway, maybe 6 warnings 3 seconds apart.

Yeah, that happened to me too. Poor Lawrence. He fought bravely, but he was no match for the NCR goons.

an increased ammount of time before you get the tag would be handier.. it takes less then 5 seconds to get the tag on ur head

Instead of flagging people... just push them a few open squares back?  If they repeatedly do it, flag 'em.  I mean, one momentary task switch and server lag shouldn't result in a warrant for your death in a town.

exactly, that would make it far easier to survive when there's lag in ncr...
