Begining of the game
Badger:
How about you get gear when you first spawn/whenever you respawn up until level 3/4?
And I'm talking absolute basic gear. I would suggest we bring back pipe rifles and zip guns explicitly for this purpose, and make them fire ammo that can be crafted from flint. Not giving them 9mm or mausers or whatever, but stuff specifically designed for this purpose. We also make the items worth $0.
SHOOTING ROCKS AT BAD GUYS.
Oh, and if someone presents the argument that 'What's to stop people suiciding to get an infinite supply of these shitty guns?'. Nothing. But if people would rather allow themselves to be killed than craft the most absolutely basic gear then it's more a problem with crafting than with giving out basic gear.
However this is all irrelevant as we all know that giving players anything for free means the entire game will collapse and nobody will ever have fun again and hello kitty portal 2 wasteland harsh
LagMaster:
allright, let me clear this up for this kid(he is a kid i know it)
first, the wasteland is harsh, PK-ing is a way to get stuff, why to ban someone if he kills you? i mean if FOnline was real Life and a raider come to you and rob you, will you pray to god that a light will come and take that raider in hell?
second, use google translate to translate from your native language in english so we can better understand your posts
third, every player can hide his stuff in a secret location in a city, like behind a wall or in a public toilet, who the hell goes there?
forth, find or invite some friends, this game is shit to play alone, try joining a gang

Already suggested by me - Use search.

I think if you really want to help new players then make the brahmin herders give you some quest to bring them ten hides. Once you complete the quest he doesnt want them for some reason and give them back.
The important part being that you dont have to give him all ten hides at once.
Im not sure i like this though, finally building that first tent felt as good as beating most endgame bosses.
abegade:
Imho fact is that players tends not to read forum/wiki before starting to play, so especially non fallout nerds will find the game extremely rough and probably quit in the few first days.. having a dedicated tutorial map where u can learn the basics of crafting, fighting or whatever could help newbs to get more involved into the game.
For example having some quests like "craft your first gun" or "bring brahmins pelts to the guy xyz" would be a nice idea too, and could be implemented with npcs in this map.
