Problems with higher resolution

I keep getting an error if i go full screen resolution more the 800:600, now the problem is that i cant see nothing in 800/600 and that now i am stuck in new reno in north part of town, and cant get back because of the resolution i cant even reach the exit grid.

and plus its not worth playing on 800 600 at all.
it keeps getting me an erorr of dx9 or something i never had this problem before the wipe on the same computer, i had only changed some drivers since then i do not know what the problem could be.

help  anyone?

Have you tried to press F4 while in-game ?

f4????    i can start the game in 800/600  which i don't like.   but as soon as i try an higher resolution i get an error prior to starting the game. giving me an dx9 ....sum sum text

the only way i can play in other resolutions is if i start them in a window, is there a way to go to full screen from windowed mode.
