(Not to mention taking the time to repeat the process at an HQ mine for the HQ materials.)
Gang encounters don't have Assault Rifles, I'm pretty sure.

Anybody and one friend can make an FN FAL in one trip. Anyone alone can make an Assault Rifle in about thirty minutes and with a friend they can make two a trip. Yeah, it's boring, but you get the reward of having made it with the bonus that you don't get a wasteland gun with six broken-count and 70% Deterioration.

I guess it's just efficiency vs. fun. Or rather, what one perceives as fun.

Dude what are you doing here? You miss the concept of beta testing, you are supposed to report such things, not keep in secret and hope noone else finds out.
ANYTHING that gives you suspiciously large pile of good items in very easy, repeatable way.

You can also go halfway by upgrading busted ass assault rifles you find into extended mag ones, and get a fresh gun, with a bigger magazine in the bargain.

As it stands, the resources are often spent on guns that are inconvenient to get in encounters, or almost impossible or on your TC viable armors.

If it suddenly became relatively difficult to craft the combat armors, it might change the dynamic, although it's hard to tell just how.

We can't say how it will play out until whenever we see a revamped crafting and combat system like's been talked about a bit.

The broken count for such a weapon doesn't change.
So although it may looks like a new gun it isn't.
It will deteriorate a lot faster, sometimes 1% per shot.
Try selling it to a trader, you'll see the price is less than for an upgraded crafted assault rifle.
