Merging big and small guns isn't new and was discusses already years ago with Interplay's Fallout 3. In Van Buren, even energy weapons would have been merged into a single "Firearms" skill.
I personally don't think that merging BG and SG into one Guns skill is a bad idea. In fact, the way how the weapons are given out in the (singleplayer) game just makes it a logical choice.

This. Dont think so ...
vedaras:
hell no, skills should not be merged, yes for variety :> If anything should be merged, may it be some useless skills no one is taking anyway but not bg and sg :> Also i remember you telling we are following f2 and f1 not f3 or van buren, so we should stick to that ^^
Stration:
What a splendid idea, let's go even further and:
1. Allow not 1, but only 0,5 chars/person (2 people will have to share one)
2. Not only remove cars, but also lock everyone's outdoorsman skill at 0%
3. merge all the guns we have now into one that can be loaded with all kinds of ammo, and also used as a melee weapon
In other words: no.
